At a glance: The Huanghai MJ150-Lab takes a film or patch formula from development into pilot and early commercial batches on the same stripe-coating process as the production MJ150, at 8,000–10,000 films per hour. It is for formulation-development teams and contract manufacturers who need real batch volumes before committing to a full production line, from Huanghai Pharmaceutical Instruments (Shanghai, since 1978).

What the Huanghai MJ150-Lab does for your pilot production

Pilot output that covers real volumes. At 8,000–10,000 films per hour, about 64,000–80,000 films per 8-hour shift, it supplies pilot batches and many early commercial volumes, for example 20,000–50,000 patches per day.
Two formulas side by side. Multi-formula stripe coating puts two formulations on one film in a single pass, with no intermediate drying between layers. Huanghai's own design (patent application CN117323228A).
One process from pilot to production. The MJ150-Lab runs the same process as the production MJ150 at lower output, on the same 150 mm substrate width, so a formulation moves up the line without changing film format. The MJ180 takes the rewound roll downstream.
Complete inline sequence. Base film unwinding and loading, coating, drying, film thickness detection, online slitting and rewinding in one machine.
ODF or transdermal patch (TDDS), set before it is built. The platform can be built for either application. Changing after delivery needs dedicated parts replaced by Huanghai engineers (about 1–2 weeks), so tell us at quotation stage; if you need both, we will propose the right configuration.
Try your formula before you buy. With a finalized formula, send your slurry to our facility in China for a coating trial on the MJ150-Lab (coating only, about 1–2 weeks from receipt of material). This is a paid trial service; contact us for scope.

What is the difference between the MJ150-Lab and the MJ150?
Both use the stripe coating and the same 150 mm substrate width. The MJ150-Lab runs 8,000–10,000 films per hour; the MJ150 runs about 30,000 films per hour in Gen I, with a hot-air drying tunnel.

When is the MJ150-Lab enough for production?
At about 64,000–80,000 films per 8-hour shift, the MJ150-Lab covers many early commercial volumes, for example 20,000–50,000 patches per day. Move to the MJ150 when you need higher daily volume, multi-shift output or clear expansion headroom.

Can one MJ150-Lab make both oral films and transdermal patches?
The platform can be built for either, but the application is set before manufacturing. Switching after delivery needs dedicated components replaced by our engineers (about 1–2 weeks), so plan two lines if you need both.

Does the MJ150-Lab support 21 CFR Part 11?
It is designed to support 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, with audit trail, electronic records and access control, and a cGMP-oriented build. Huanghai provides IQ/OQ documentation; PQ and on-site validation are carried out by the end user.

Can I test my formula on the MJ150-Lab before buying?
Yes, if you have a finalized formula. Send your slurry to our facility in China and we run a coating trial on the MJ150-Lab, about 1–2 weeks from receipt of material. The trial covers coating only; cutting and final packaging are not included. It is a paid service.

Which machine takes the coated roll to finished packs?
The MJ180 automatic cutting and packaging machine processes the dried, rewound roll without modification; keep the roll in a cleanroom between coating and packaging.

How long is delivery?
For a coating machine alone, factory acceptance test (FAT) takes 3 months, with site acceptance test (SAT) within 1–2 months after FAT. A line that also includes cutting and packaging, takes 4–6 months.
