PHARMACEUTICAL FILM MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS

Engineered for the simultaneous coating of multiple APIs, our machine streamlines the production of complex combination drugs with precision and efficiency.

How to choose ODF (oral dissolving film) equipment

Huanghai Pharmaceutical Instruments (Shanghai, since 1978) builds ODF equipment for each stage from formulation R&D to commercial production: the bench-top MJ150-RD film casting unit (about 1,200 films per hour), the pilot-scale MJ150-Lab (8,000–10,000 films per hour), the production MJ150 coating machine (about 30,000 films per hour, Generation 1), and the MJ180 automatic cutting and packaging machine (about 11,900 films per hour). MJ150-RD uses the same 150 mm substrate width as the MJ150 line, so formulations scale up directly.

Model comparison

Model Stage Output Process Grade
MJ150-RD R&D, formulation screening ≈1,200 films/h Doctor-blade casting, 130 mm coating on 150 mm substrate, oven drying Pharma / supplement
MJ150-Lab Pilot and clinical batches 8,000–10,000 films/h Same stripe coating and 150 mm substrate as MJ150; oven drying Pharma / supplement / food
MJ150 Commercial production ≈30,000 films/h (Gen 1) Coating and drying; ODF or solvent-based transdermal patch Pharma / supplement / food
MJ180 Cutting and packaging ≈11,900 films/h (Gen 1) Fully automatic; connects to MJ150 Pharma / supplement
EZ320 Cutting and packaging ≈9,000 films/h Manual roll loading, dustproof enclosure Food grade only

How to choose

  • Formulation not yet locked: start with MJ150-RD to screen formulas, then move to MJ150-Lab for pilot and clinical batches.
  • ODF or transdermal patch: the MJ Pro platform can be built for either, but the application is set before manufacturing. If you need both, plan two dedicated lines.
  • Packaging grade must match the product: pharmaceutical and supplement films use the MJ180; the EZ320 is for food-grade films only.
  • Electronic records: the MJ Pro series (MJ150-RD, MJ150-Lab, MJ150, MJ180) is cGMP-oriented with 21 CFR Part 11 electronic records.

Pharmacopoeia and compliance

cGMP-oriented design; 21 CFR Part 11 electronic records on the MJ Pro series; CE marking under the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and EMC Directive 2014/30/EU for the ODF line.

Frequently asked questions

Which machine should I start with for ODF R&D?
MJ150-RD, a bench-top doctor-blade casting unit for formulation screening. It uses the same 150 mm substrate width as the MJ150 production line.

Can one line make both oral films and transdermal patches?
The MJ Pro platform can be configured for either, but the application must be chosen before manufacturing. Switching after delivery needs component replacement on site, so two dedicated lines are recommended if you need both.

What output does the MJ150 reach?
About 30,000 films per hour for Generation 1. MJ150-Lab produces 8,000–10,000 films per hour and MJ150-RD about 1,200.

Which packaging machine fits a pharmaceutical ODF?
MJ180, the fully automatic MJ Pro cutting and packaging machine. EZ320 is food-grade only.

Do you offer contract manufacturing of ODF?
Yes — see ODF contract manufacturing and OEM for formulation and trial production support.
