Vacuum Degasser

Vacuum Degasser

Dissolved air in dissolution media forms bubbles that interfere with accurate drug release readings. Our HTQ-1A Vacuum Degasser removes dissolved air before testing begins, reducing variability caused by air interference.

Key Features

  • Vacuum-based degassing for dissolution media preparation
  • Designed to support high-precision dissolution testing environments

Applications

  • Dissolution media preparation ahead of USP/EP/ChP dissolution testing
  • Reducing air-bubble-related variability in drug release results

How to choose a vacuum degasser for dissolution media

Dissolved gas in dissolution media can form bubbles on the basket, paddle or dosage form and change the results, so media for USP <711> testing are usually degassed first. The HTQ-1A from Huanghai Pharmaceutical Instruments (Shanghai, since 1978) degasses purified, distilled or deionized water by combined vacuum, heating and circulation in a 25 L mobile tank, with UV sterilization and an inlet filter as standard.

Model comparison

Model Tank Degassing Liquids Filtration
HTQ-1A 25 L, mobile Vacuum (−0.08 to 0 MPa) + heating + circulation; UV sterilization Purified, distilled or deionized water Inlet filter standard; outlet filter optional

How to choose

  • Volume: one 25 L tank holds enough degassed water for several runs of a 6- or 8-vessel dissolution tester at 900–1,000 ml per vessel.
  • Only water goes into the tank: add buffer salts, surfactants or solvents outside the degasser, because they can change the liquid properties and become corrosive.
  • Shared use: the mobile tank can serve several dissolution testers in the same lab.
  • Hygiene: UV sterilization of the tank contents.

Pharmacopoeia and compliance

USP <711> notes that dissolved gases can form bubbles that change dissolution results and should be removed when they affect the result. The degasser is support equipment for media preparation, used with dissolution testers to ChP 0931, USP <711> and Ph. Eur. 2.9.3; no apparatus chapter applies to the degasser itself.

Frequently asked questions

Why degas dissolution media?
Dissolved gas can form bubbles on the basket, paddle or dosage form and change the dissolution rate, so USP <711> media are commonly degassed before testing.

How does the HTQ-1A degas?
It combines vacuum, heating and circulation in a 25 L mobile tank, with UV sterilization.

Which liquids can be degassed?
Purified, distilled or deionized water. Surfactants, solvents or buffer salts should not be added to the degasser tank.

Are filters included?
An inlet filter is included as standard; an outlet filter is available as an option.
