Founded in 1978, Shanghai Huanghai (Yellow Sea) Pharmaceutical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is China's first state-designated institution dedicated to pharmaceutical testing equipment R&D and manufacturing. Over 47 years, Huanghai has grown from a government-certified testing instrument pioneer into a full-spectrum pharmaceutical equipment manufacturer — covering ODF film coating lines, transdermal patch (TDDS) manufacturing systems, dissolution testers, and laser drilling systems for osmotic drug delivery. Today, Huanghai serves nearly 1,000 clients across 30+ countries.

Our History
Key Milestones
Established by the state as the first institution in New China dedicated to the development and manufacturing of pharmaceutical testing instruments — pioneering the industry.
Partnered with the Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry (SIPI), with a core R&D team led by Academician Hou Huimin. Developed China's first-generation dissolution testers and disintegration testers.
Transitioned to a privately-owned enterprise, establishing Shanghai Huanghai Pharmaceutical Instruments Co., Ltd., focusing on manufacturing pharmaceutical testing instruments and modernizing operations.
Established a dedicated sales company, providing one-stop distribution of Huanghai-branded instruments to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Over the following 30+ years, Huanghai expanded to 30+ countries and served nearly 1,000 clients.
Huanghai instruments were recognized as the first batch of products to comply strictly with the first edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Approved by the National Planning Commission, Huanghai's R&D team co-founded the National Pharmaceutical Engineering Research Center (NPERC) — dedicated to addressing challenges in scaling and industrializing novel drug formulations.
R&D center relocated to Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, Shanghai — China's premier pharmaceutical and biotech innovation district — enhancing innovation capacity and resource efficiency.
Established the Intelligent Manufacturing Division, successfully commercializing ODF film coating and cutting machines and transdermal patch (TDDS) manufacturing systems — marking Huanghai's strategic expansion into advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
Established the International Trade Division to drive global expansion and online marketing — opening Huanghai pharmaceutical equipment to new markets across North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
